Furniture Regulations and standards. All Foams, Fabrics and coverings are fire
resistant and have been treated. All glass is tempered and toughened. We do
not cut corners unlike many retailers we strive to bring you the best in
quality and the highest standards available.
True Value for Money
Before bidding Modern Furniture Direct would like to make it absolutely clear
that all items that we offer for sale are 100% brand new and in their
original packaging. Modern Furniture Direct do not sell ex catalogue or
damaged items. Customers are often surprised at our extremely low prices
and the many auctions that start from 99p! This is purely because our
products do not come from wholesalers; we deal direct with the manufacturers
with whom we have exclusive contracts for the goods we retail.
This is reflected in
our prices and the many exclusive items we offer. Some of the items we sell
are also available from high end furniture retailers but due to their massive
overheads they are unable to offer the savings we do.
Colours and shades
It is virtually impossible to 100% accurately portray colours of wooden,
fabric and leather furniture in pictures. Factors such as your monitor
settings or a particular lighting used when taking marketing photographs can
affect shading. Colours may vary slightly from batch to batch, therefore we
cannot accept colour or shade differences as faults.
As most of the items Modern Furniture Direct sell are very much sought after
the availability of our items is very limited. This not because we buy in
small quantities but due to the volume we sell. As we also sell these items
to contract, clubs, hotels, restaurants etc stock levels will diminish very
rapidly. We urge all winning bidders to make payment within 7 days to ensure
that your item is reserved.
If we offer at e-Bay auction we will always keep items to one side to fulfill
the order of the winning bidder. However it is very important not to presume
that we have more than one available unless specifically stated, if you need
a second matching item please e-mail ahead to check.
Please unpack all products carefully. Regrettably, self assembly items cannot
be returned once assembly is part or fully completed, unless item is found to
be faulty. We will examine the goods to determine whether the fault or damage
occurred before or after delivery and the decision will be made at our
discretion. Should you need to return unassembled products please repack in
the original packaging.
We urge all winning bidders to make payment within 7 days to ensure that your
item is reserved. Payment is required within 7 days of the auction ending via
PAYPAL, Cash or Credit/Debit card over the phone. Please inform us if
you are experiencing delays, as your item will be re-auctioned and a
non-payment notification may be filed against you.
Delivery of items
If an item is listed as ‘In stock’ it will usually be dispatched on an
express service within 48 hours of making payment and be delivered to the
buyer within the week of purchase (usually within 5 days). However please
allow up to 14 days after payment for the product to be delivered as our
drivers may not have a large enough consignment to deliver to a particular
area (however this rarely happens).
An item sold quoting ‘arriving in 4-6 weeks’ or ‘6-8 weeks’ means that the
item has not yet arrived in the UK and is currently being
shipped. This usually includes time for customs clearance and delivery to our
warehouse but unforeseen delays can occur therefore we advise that you allow
29 days from payment clearance for goods to be delivered to your home. As
soon as items arrive at our warehouse we endeavor to dispatch them within 24
hours. Please note that in most cases your goods will be delivered well in
advance of the 29 days. Please note that we do not guarantee delivery to any
parts of Ireland
as the condition of goods cannot be guaranteed. Delivery charges quoted as UK mainland apply to England, Scotland
and Wales only and do not

Almost all deliveries are conducted by our own in-house drivers. For
larger or more fragile items such as glass we ask that you kindly assist our
driver with taking the item off the vehicle. The delivery service we offer is
to the curb. However our drivers are professional and friendly and with your
assistance they will happily help you into your home with your new furniture.
Please note that our company and our drivers are not liable for any damage
caused to you or your property when conducting deliveries. All items handled
by you are at your own risk, if you feel you are unable to help the driver
please don’t hesitate to tell the driver.
We have provided clear measurements for all our items; therefore please
ensure that you are able to fit the item through doors and into your home.
Please advise us of any days where you may not be available at home to take
delivery so that we can avoid conducting delivery on these days.
Due to our low selling prices and delivery fees we are unable to offer timed
or 2 man delivery services.
Upon payment it is vital that you leave a contact number with us so that our
drivers can reach you in the event of a delay or difficulty finding your
address. They may also call ahead of delivery to ensure that you are at home
(this is not guaranteed). As soon as your item is ready for dispatch you will
be contacted via email and delivery details will be provided. Please note
that we are not able to facilitate customer collections as our warehousing
and distribution are set up to deliver directly to the customer from secure
units not insured or accessible to the general public.
Due to the nature of the goods (weight and size) and the unpredictable nature
of home deliveries we advise that you be flexible and keep a clear day in
your diary for receiving the goods. Due to the volume of items we sell our
drivers have very busy schedules and deliveries may be conducted as early as
6am up till 10pm. However buyers will usually be informed of very early and
very late delivery times.
Cancellations and returns
cancel your order at any point before dispatch or you may return any goods*
purchased within 14 days of receipt. In the event of cancellation you must
return any goods already dispatched to you in accordance with our returns
procedure.. Any money which you have paid will be refunded less the delivery,
collection and packing charges (as shown below) incurred by us within 30 days
provided that Modern Furniture Direct receives the goods in the same
condition they were in at the time of delivery to you. In the event of a
cancelation after dispatch, our collection and return charges will apply as
they would if the goods had been delivered.
Packaging charges will be chargeable per pack,
box or carton as follows:
Small items (Post - eg Clocks) £7.95
Large items (Courier - eg Furniture / sofas
& suites) £35.00
The costs mentioned above are purely to assist
in recovering our own packaging and transport costs etc.
Please check all
component parts for damages before the courier leaves. Damages must be noted
on the couriers slip before he/she leaves. All damages must be reported to us
via email strictly within 24 hours of delivery. Please send photographic
evidence of all damages. Please note that if your item arrives faulty or
damaged we will either offer a refund, repair or replace the item and we
reserve the right to offer these solutions at our discretion.
MONEY BACK GUARANTEE - Refund Policy
If you are unhappy with the product you are entitled to a refund providing that
we are informed by email within 14 days of delivery. The costs of returning
any goods must be covered by the buyer.
The initial cost of delivery incurred by us will also be deducted from
the refund amount. Therefore the refund will be issued minus the delivery
cost and cost of returning the goods to us. All goods being returned must be
returned to us as they were when delivered. The item must not have been used.
If the item shows signs of use we reserve the right to not issue a refund.
